Brendon took a week of vacation at the end of February and we quickly decided that a road trip to Mimi's Beach House was in order! Her beautiful house sits on this pristine, sandy beach that is full of shells, critters and sea life. I love to watch the girls run out to the water, immediately upon arrival. The road trip wasn't even that bad, thanks to a borrowed portable DVD player and a pit-stop at McD's where they got their first ice cream cones (life-changer!). What I love most about my mom's house is how time just seems to stand still. There is limited cell reception. Fewer interruptions. The days become lazy and are measured primarily by the sun's course. Before you know it, everyone has that sun-kissed glow, kids are happily exhausted and the soul gets a recharge from nature. We put the kids in Mimi's "pond" of a bath tub, and then all fall asleep in the same room- like a family camp-out! It is pure bliss. Thanks for hosting us, Mimi!
First arrival = straight to the beach!
Beach pose.
This time around, there were countless beached jellyfish to discover.
Searching for beach treasures!
The tide is coming in slowly, creating the best places to explore!
Peyla loves getting into the water.
Messing around.
Digging for pirate's treasure.
Ali discovered seaweed!
It's going to take her a long time to dig a hole. lol
Daddy found the skeleton of a crab. Peyla wouldn't touch it but Ali went right in!
Nice to meet you!
Ok...since sissy did it...
Proud of her huge shell.
We walked a little too far, hitching a ride with Mimi.
